This artwork is part of a whimsical painting series that flits and flutters into the dramatic lives of butterfly and monarch families, proving that even insects have their own soap operas. Witness the chaos of a monarch toddler throwing a tantrum mid-migration ("But I WANT to eat the WHOLE milkweed leaf!"), or the awkwardness of a butterfly teen trying to impress their crush with a clumsy aerial display. Each painting is a snapshot of relatable family moments, reminding us that even with wings, life can still be a bit of a circus.
The Monarchs
The Story
The Monarchs, despite their regal name, were anything but stuffy. Lord Monarch, a portly moth with a fondness for late-night snacks, often proclaimed, "A Monarch's reign is fueled by midnight munchies!" Lady Monarch, a graceful butterfly with a penchant for organization, would patiently remind him, "Darling, please try not to leave crumbs on the silk cushions." Their twin caterpillars, Prince Wiggles and Princess Squiggles, were a constant source of amusement. Wiggles, the adventurous one, was forever getting stuck in precarious positions, while Squiggles, the bookworm, could often be found curled up with a miniature copy of "The Very Hungry Caterpillar," dreaming of the day she'd transform into a magnificent butterfly. One evening, during a family game of hide-and-seek, Wiggles managed to wedge himself inside a rolled-up tapestry, his muffled giggles giving away his hiding spot. Lord Monarch, trying to maintain his composure, declared, "A truly cunning strategy, my son! Though perhaps a tad... confining?" Lady Monarch, ever the pragmatist, simply fetched a pair of tweezers, chuckling, "Another day, another rescue mission for the Monarchs." Even in their most chaotic moments, the Monarch family radiated warmth and humor, their love for each other shining brighter than any royal crown.
