This artwork is part of a whimsical painting series that flits and flutters into the dramatic lives of butterfly and monarch families, proving that even insects have their own soap operas. Witness the chaos of a monarch toddler throwing a tantrum mid-migration ("But I WANT to eat the WHOLE milkweed leaf!"), or the awkwardness of a butterfly teen trying to impress their crush with a clumsy aerial display. Each painting is a snapshot of relatable family moments, reminding us that even with wings, life can still be a bit of a circus.
The Metamorphoses
The Story
The Metamorphoses were a family of six, each member embodying the transformative spirit of their namesake. Papa Metamorphosis, a philosophical moth with a penchant for deep conversations, often mused, "Change is the only constant, my dears." Mama Metamorphosis, a vibrant butterfly with a flair for the dramatic, would add, "And a new outfit never hurts!" Their four children, each at a different stage of their metamorphosis, brought a unique energy to the household. Chrysalis, the eldest, was perpetually wrapped in her cocoon, her muffled voice occasionally offering cryptic pronouncements. Caterpillar, the middle child, was a whirlwind of activity, constantly munching on leaves and leaving a trail of chewed greenery in his wake. Flutter and Flit, the energetic twins, were newly emerged butterflies, their wings still shimmering with the dew of their transformation. One morning, the Metamorphoses gathered around the breakfast table, each absorbed in their own world. Chrysalis, sensing an imminent emergence, fidgeted within her cocoon, while Caterpillar munched contentedly on a pile of kale. Flutter and Flit, their wings a blur, zoomed around the room, leaving a trail of laughter in their wake. Papa Metamorphosis, observing the scene, remarked, "Such a beautiful symphony of change." Mama Metamorphosis, ever the optimist, added, "And a reminder to always embrace the unexpected." The Metamorphoses, a family in constant flux, celebrated their transformations, proving that even in the midst of change, love and laughter could always find a way to bloom.
