Chirpy
The Story
Chirpy the finch had a name that was as ironic as a mime yelling "Quiet!" He wasn't chirpy. He wasn't melodic. He wasn't even particularly coherent. Chirpy's vocalizations were more like a malfunctioning smoke detector arguing with a rusty hinge. Every morning, he'd puff out his chest (which achieved the impressive feat of making him look even rounder) and unleash a cacophony of squeaks, beeps, and whistles that could curdle milk at fifty paces. The other birds, bless their polite souls, would offer encouraging chirps, hoping Chirpy would discover the off button before the neighborhood cat woke up with a taste for breakfast entertainment.
